Whatever her real intentions might be, Hana does come across as having the remarkable ability to mask her venom as truth-telling and tough love. He is saying almost nothing of substance, and it certainly is not a very strong argument. Michelle's bit before this timestamp was even worse, seeing as she was actively contradicting herself within the same few sentences, but at least she managed to convey an idea, even if it was a regrettably bigoted and poorly expressed one. Jordan didn't do much better. I think he takes way too much time laying out his rational perspective, without appealing to people's feelings, which is clearly the type of communication that this crowd favors. As someone who thinks and speaks in a very similar way, though my beliefs differ from that of the doctor, i can empathize with him losing the crowd. As for the debate itself... well, it's hardly a debate, is it? The "left" speakers don't even entertain the "right" side's arguments or ideas. What a waste of time.

I’d say great debate, but I’d be lying. Matt Taibbi gave some good points, but he’s more of a journalist than a debater. It showed. Michelle’s best argument was actually in favor of the motion, though I doubt she intended it that way. Otherwise, her only points seemed to be based on isolated, personal experiences. Malcolm was horribly offensive. Due to his personal conduct in the debate, I was utterly convinced that every word from his mouth was an invention, just like his ad hominem attacks on his opponents. Douglas Murray was an absolute gem, though I thought he missed some easy pitches in favor of direct, deserved, strikes back at Malcolm.

I watched this because I listened to a current comment by Douglas, I do like him very much, and I dont trust the mainstream media because it does seem biased. But Douglas was so inaccurate in his thoughts on this debate. Looked like he started insulting Malcolm and not the other way round, and his summary was totally wrong, it seemed like a very even debate, with both sides making good points. Malcolm's side had the harder job and obviously lost, Malcolm's harping on Walter Cronkite for no reason lost him major points and was so stupid. The first time I have had to question Douglas, that is a bit disturbing to me. Still a fan though.

Even if you knew nothing about the state of Western media or any of our political issues, you should be able to listen to these speakers and easily identify the following things. You should easily identify the "storytellers", the people who are captured by narratives and agendas, and who cannot help but act in the role of institutional gatekeepers. These people come across as insecure, defensive, and therefore, insincere. They overcompensate with condescension, platitudes, and BS'ing. They are pathetic and represent everything wrong with the media, the reason this kind of debate is so necessary. They stand in stark contrast to the objective speakers, the principled speakers, the no-nonsense truth-tellers, the actual journalists. Taibbi and Murray for the clear win.

The funniest thing here is that when Malcolm gladwell shows his opinion of the hunter Biden story, he is showing how it is that the media makes decisions. “Why would anyone care about this story?” And then not reporting it means he and others decided not to report an actual story because of their own disinterest in it, not because it actually wasn’t a story. I personally don’t care much about it either, but people should still get the story
